Sigma Tau Alpha

ΣΤΑ

Sigma Tau Alpha (ΣΤΑ) is a Rainbow Sorority based on Service.  It was founded in the state of Washington and received approval from Rainbow Founder, the Reverend W. Mark Sexson, as a suitable organization for Rainbow Girls of college age.  Our purpose is to foster a spirit of friendliness among Rainbow Girls in universities and colleges, to render service to the institution and community in which the Chapter is located, and to assist the Supreme Inspector/Deputy in ways she may find to be of help to the jurisdiction.

Membership is limited to active members of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls in good standing and Majority Members from any Grand Jurisdiction who are attending a college, university, or vocational program .  Girls who are seniors in high school may "pledge" a chapter in anticipation of attending an institution of higher or post-secondary education following graduation.

There are three ΣΤΑ chapters in Arizona.  Alpha Sigma Chapter is affiliated with Arizona State University (www.asu.edu) in Tempe and members may be attending ASU, Grand Canyon University, one of the Maricopa County Community Colleges, Central Arizona College, or area vocational schools.  The Chapter Advisor is Mrs. Deborah Hull.  Alpha Sigma Chapter is a registered campus organization at ASU.

Alpha Phi Chapter is affiliated with Northern Arizona University (www.nau.edu) in Flagstaff.  Members there may be attending NAU, Coconino Community College, or an area vocational school.  The Chapter Advisor is Mrs. Kathy Magness.

Alpha Rho members attend the University of Arizona (www.arizona.edu) in Tucson, Pima Community College, or local vocational schools.  The Interim Chapter Advisor is Mr. Larry Behers.

Local chapters plan a variety of service and social events throughout the school year.  A statewide Pledge Ceremony and formal Initiation are usually scheduled in the fall each year and a casual event is typically held during Grand Assembly in June.

Girls who attend colleges outside the metropolitan areas may choose to join any chapter.
